What Counts as One Nursing Visit

A visit is a block of nursing time with a stated job: one injection, one dressing change, a catheter change, a set of observations, or a medicine round with help getting washed and settled. The nurse arrives with what the job needs, does it, writes it down and leaves. A daily booking is the same visit repeated at an agreed hour, once or twice a day, for as long as the course runs.

Choosing the Hour of the Visit

Timing matters more than families expect. An antibiotic due twice daily needs roughly twelve hours between doses, so seven in the morning and seven in the evening works around office hours. Insulin and sugar checks sit before meals. A dressing that soaks through by afternoon wants a late visit, not an early one. Tell us the constraints and the round is built around them.

What the Family Does Between Visits

Between visits the house is yours again, which is the point, but it does mean some tasks fall to relatives. The nurse shows you what those are: which tablets are due, how to keep a dressing dry, when to take a sugar reading. Common questions about booking nursing visits in Lahore.

How is a visit different from a nursing shift?

Visits are not shifts, which is the main difference. You book an hour or so at a stated time rather than a twelve-hour block. If a patient genuinely needs someone present overnight, say so when you call and we will quote shift cover instead, because stretching visits to fill a night does not work.

Will the same nurse come each day?

One nurse per visit. Where the roster allows it is the same nurse each day, which matters because she can see whether the wound or the swelling has changed since yesterday. For a twice-daily round, the morning and evening calls are sometimes covered by two nurses working from the same log.

What should be in the house before the visit?

The prescription, the medicines and any dressings your doctor specified, kept as the pharmacy advised. A clean table, soap and a towel are enough for the nurse. Tell us what is already in the house, because a second box of dressings is money wasted.

Can a visit happen tonight?

A single visit this evening is often possible if a nurse is free in your area. A standing daily round usually starts the next morning, since the hours have to be fixed on the roster. Call with the task and your location and you will be told either way on the phone.

Can we set the nurse’s gender for the whole round?

Yes. State it when you book the round rather than at the door, and it is recorded against every visit in the series. If the only nurse free for a particular evening is not the gender you asked for, the coordinator checks with you first.

How is a visit priced?

Per visit, with the rate depending on the task and how long the visit takes. A dressing change is not priced like a drip that runs for two hours. A standing daily booking is quoted as a course rather than visit by visit, and confirmed before the first one.

What happens if a scheduled visit is missed?

The coordinator arranges a replacement for that visit, and the new nurse reads the log before starting. A missed dose in an antibiotic course matters, so tell us as soon as a visit looks late rather than waiting to see whether anyone turns up.

Can a critical care nurse do visits?

Yes, although a routine visit rarely calls for one. Where a patient came home with a tracheostomy, oxygen or a central line and still needs only twice-daily attention, we assign a nurse with critical care experience to those visits. Mention it when you book, as there are fewer of them.
