Occupational Therapy at Home in Lahore

Independence is made of small tasks: getting dressed, reaching the toilet in time, washing without help, making a cup of chai. Our occupational therapists find what is making those tasks hard, then teach a safer method and set the home up to allow it.

Occupational Therapy in Your Own Home

Because occupational therapy is about real routines, home is the most natural place for it. The therapist watches your loved one attempt everyday tasks in their own bathroom, bedroom and kitchen, then suggests safer methods, simple equipment and small changes to the layout. Recommendations are practical and affordable where possible, and the therapist helps the family put them in place.

Services Include

Goal

To help your loved one manage everyday tasks as safely and independently as possible, while making home life easier for the whole family.

Who Should Book Occupational Therapy?

Occupational therapy helps people who have become unable to manage personal care or household tasks after a stroke, a fracture, surgery or a long illness, and older adults slowed by arthritis, weakness or early memory problems. It also helps families adapting a house for a wheelchair user, and children who struggle with handwriting, buttons, cutlery or sensory experiences.

The Person, the Task, the Room

Occupational therapy looks at three things at once. The person: how strong the hands are, how steady the balance, how reliable the memory. The task: how many steps dressing really takes, and which one fails. The room: whether the toilet is too low, the bed too soft, the bathroom floor too slippery. Changing any one of the three can restore a task.

Activities of Daily Living We Work On

Sessions are built around real activities rather than exercises. Dressing with one usable hand, standing at the basin to wash, sitting safely in the shower, moving from the bed to the wheelchair, eating with adapted cutlery, writing again, managing medicines in the right order. Each is broken into steps, practised, and then written down for the family.

Who It Helps

Everyday Problems We Help Solve

The therapist watches your loved one attempt the real task before suggesting any technique or equipment.

After a Stroke

Dressing, washing and eating relearned with a weak arm and hand.

Bathroom Safety

Safer transfers to the toilet and shower, with grab rails or a shower chair where needed.

Weak Hands and Grip

Fine motor exercises for buttons, cutlery, keys, a phone and a pen.

Wheelchair Users

Doorways, thresholds, seating and kitchen access reviewed so the home works day to day.

Memory Difficulties

Written routines, labels and prompts that help a familiar task stay possible.

Children’s Skills

Handwriting, dressing, feeding and sensory needs supported with parents in the room.

Our Approach

Equipment is suggested only when it earns its place. A different method of putting on a kameez costs nothing; a raised toilet seat costs little and changes a day; a full bathroom rebuild is rarely the first answer. We explain the options and leave the decision with you.

How It Works

  1. Task observation — your loved one attempts washing, dressing or a kitchen task while the therapist watches which step fails.
  2. Analysis — whether the barrier is strength, balance, memory or the room itself.
  3. New method — a safer technique is taught and practised until it is repeatable.
  4. Aids and adaptations — simple equipment or a small layout change, explained with affordable options.

Family guidance — relatives are shown how much help to give, and when to step back so independence is not quietly taken away.

Why Doing Less Can Help More

Families help out of love, and often help too much. When someone else buttons the shirt every morning, the hand that could still do it slowly stops trying. Part of this therapy is agreeing where that line sits.

Occupational Therapy for Elderly Parents at Home

Dignity in everyday routines

Families in Lahore often look for help with daily living for an elderly parent only after a frightening moment: a slip in the bathroom, or a parent who has quietly stopped bathing because it has become too hard. An occupational therapist can usually change that with a seat in the shower, a rail by the toilet, a different way of standing from the bed, and a routine your parent can manage without calling for help.
We visit DHA, Gulberg, Johar Town, Model Town, Bahria Town, Garden Town and other areas of Lahore. Occupational therapy pairs naturally with home physiotherapy, and with elderly home care where daily help is also needed.

FAQs

Occupational Therapy FAQs

Common questions about occupational therapy at home in Lahore.

What does an occupational therapist actually do?

They take a task your loved one can no longer manage, such as washing at the basin or getting out of bed, work out whether the barrier is strength, balance, memory or the room itself, then teach a safer method and try a simple aid. Then it is practised until it holds.
Fewer than physiotherapy, often three to six. The first is a full home and task assessment with written recommendations. The rest are for practising the new methods and checking that any equipment is being used properly rather than left in a corner.
Usually not. A different way of putting on a kameez costs nothing, and a raised toilet seat or shower chair costs little. Equipment is recommended only where it genuinely helps, affordable options are explained, and the decision stays with you.
Please do not. The clutter, the low bed and the step at the bathroom door are part of what the therapist needs to see. The assessment works best when the house is exactly as your loved one lives in it.
Yes, and it is one of the commonest reasons for a referral. Dressing with one usable hand, washing safely while seated, eating with adapted cutlery and moving from bed to wheelchair are all occupational therapy work, usually running alongside physiotherapy.
Yes. Bathing and toileting practice is personal work, so the preference is taken seriously. Say which you want when you book, and a relative or attendant of your choosing stays present throughout.
The home assessment is charged on its own, since it covers the person, the tasks and the rooms and comes with written recommendations. Follow-up sessions are charged individually. Equipment is a separate cost, quoted with alternatives before you buy anything.
Less than instinct suggests. The therapist watches a task and tells you which steps your loved one can still manage alone, which need a steadying hand, and which genuinely need doing for them. Written down, that settles a lot of family disagreement.
