Mother & Baby Care

Postnatal Care at Home in Lahore

A qualified nurse visits at home in the weeks after delivery to check the mother’s recovery: blood pressure, bleeding, the womb, stitches or a caesarean wound, the breasts and her mood. Female nurses are available, and your gynaecologist’s plan is followed.

Postnatal Care at Home

Visits are usually planned for the first days home and then spaced out as recovery settles, following your gynaecologist’s advice. The nurse brings a blood pressure monitor, thermometer and sterile dressing supplies, reviews the discharge summary and medicines, and keeps a written record of each check so progress is easy to share at your follow-up appointment.

Services Include

Goal

To support a safe, steady recovery after childbirth by checking the mother regularly at home and spotting warning signs early, so she can focus on her baby.

Who Should Book Postnatal Care at Home?

Postnatal visits matter most after a caesarean, an assisted or long delivery, heavy blood loss, or high blood pressure or diabetes during pregnancy. They also suit first-time mothers, mothers of twins, and women who live far from the hospital where they delivered or cannot travel comfortably for a check. Any mother who would rather be looked at than left wondering can book them.

What the Nurse Checks

The nurse records blood pressure, pulse and temperature, and asks about bleeding, pain, passing urine and opening the bowels. She feels the tummy gently to see whether the womb is settling back, looks at stitches or the caesarean wound and redresses it if needed, checks the breasts for redness, lumps or cracked nipples, watches a feed, and asks how the mother is feeling in herself.

How This Differs From Mother Care

Postnatal care is clinical. A qualified nurse does the checks, dresses wounds and gives prescribed medicines, usually across the first six weeks, and then care ends. Mother care at home is the practical side, given by a trained caregiver over a longer period: rest, meals, bathing, movement and night help. Families often book postnatal visits first, then add mother care if the days are hard.

Mothers We Visit

When Postnatal Visits Matter Most

Every mother is assessed against her discharge summary. The number of visits and their spacing follow her gynaecologist’s advice.

After a Caesarean

Wound checks, dressings and honest advice about what not to lift yet.

Stitches and Tears

Gentle checks on perineal stitches, and help with sitting and hygiene.

Heavy Blood Loss

Closer watching of bleeding and pulse, and the iron treatment your doctor prescribed.

High Blood Pressure

Readings taken at home and reported to your gynaecologist as asked.

Painful Breasts

Early help with engorgement or a blocked duct, before it worsens.

Low Mood

A quiet, regular question about how the mother is, and a route to help.

How Visits Are Planned

Recovery after birth is not a straight line, so the visit schedule should not be fixed in advance. We plan the first days closely, then space the visits out as the mother settles, following her gynaecologist’s instructions rather than a template.

From Discharge to First Visit

  1. Discharge summary read — the delivery, any complications, the medicines and the follow-up date your gynaecologist set.
  2. Visit schedule agreed — closer together in the first week, then spaced out as recovery settles.
  3. Nurse matched — on postnatal and wound experience, language, and your preference for a female nurse.
  4. First visit at home — a full set of checks, the warning signs explained to the family, and a written record started.

Handover to your doctor — the record goes with you to the six-week check, so nothing has to be recalled from memory.

Why Checks at Home Help

The weeks after birth are when a mother is least able to travel and most likely to set her own symptoms aside. A nurse at the door removes both problems, and puts the warning signs into the family’s hands as well as hers.

Caesarean Recovery Care at Home in Lahore

Wound care without a trip to hospital

A caesarean is major surgery, and the wound needs looking at while the mother is also feeding a newborn. Our nurses clean and dress the incision using sterile technique, check it for redness, swelling, discharge or any gap, and explain how to keep it dry at home. They also watch for fever, a painful swollen calf, or pain that is getting worse rather than better, and ask you to contact your surgeon or gynaecologist when something needs a doctor.
Postnatal visits are made right across Lahore, from Johar Town and Valencia to DHA, Gulberg, Model Town, Bahria Town and Cantt. For practical day-to-day help through recovery, see mother care at home; for the baby’s feeding, bathing and cord care, see newborn baby care.

FAQs

Postnatal Care FAQs

Common questions about postnatal care at home in Lahore.

Are postnatal checks visits or shift cover?

Postnatal care is usually visits rather than shifts. A nurse comes for about an hour, does the checks and leaves a written note. Visits are often daily in the first week and then weekly. If the mother needs someone present through the day or the night, that is caregiver cover, and we can arrange it alongside.
One nurse does the visits, and we try to keep it the same nurse, so a change in the wound or the bleeding is noticed by someone who saw it last time. If she is away, whoever covers reads the written record first. Where someone is needed in the house around the clock, that is two people on shifts.
The discharge summary, the prescribed medicines and any dressings your doctor specified. The nurse brings a blood pressure monitor, thermometer and sterile dressing supplies. A private place for the mother to be examined matters more than anything else, and a clean surface beside her is enough for the equipment.
Often yes. A first postnatal visit on the evening of discharge is a common request and is usually possible. Call or WhatsApp with the delivery details and your area, and the coordinator will tell you what time a nurse can actually reach you rather than promising a slot.
Postnatal checks are intimate, so female nurses are the norm and are what we send. Please say so when you book, particularly if your household would prefer no male staff in the house at all, and we will plan around it.
Postnatal care is usually charged per visit, so the total depends on how many visits your gynaecologist advises and whether wound dressing is involved. Longer cover with a caregiver is charged differently. You get the figures before the first visit, and nothing is added later without telling you.
Ring the coordinator. Another postnatal nurse is sent, and she reads the record of previous visits before she arrives, so the wound, the bleeding and the medicines are already known to her. A missed day is rescheduled rather than dropped.
Yes, through our home nursing service, though postnatal recovery rarely calls for them. A mother with heavy bleeding, chest pain, breathlessness, fits or a very high fever needs hospital rather than home care. Our nurses will say so plainly and help you get there, and in an emergency you should call 1122.
