Stroke Rehabilitation at Home in Lahore

A stroke can change movement, balance, speech and confidence in a single morning. Our therapists work patiently at home on the affected side, on balance, and on the everyday tasks your loved one wants back, in the months after the hospital.

Stroke Recovery Support at Home

The first visit assesses strength, tone, sensation, balance, swallowing concerns and how much help your loved one needs with daily tasks. Together with the family, the therapist sets practical goals, such as sitting unsupported, walking to the bathroom or eating without help. Sessions combine hands-on facilitation, task practice and positioning advice, and the plan is reviewed as abilities change.

Services Include

Goal

To help your loved one regain as much movement, balance and independence as possible after a stroke, while supporting the family to care safely at home.

Who Should Book Stroke Rehabilitation?

This is for anyone who has come home after a stroke with weakness down one side, a heavy arm or leg, poor sitting or standing balance, a changed walking pattern, a stiff or painful shoulder, or difficulty with speech and swallowing. It is best started soon after discharge, but people months and even years after a stroke can still gain from structured practice.

What the First Assessment Looks At

The therapist examines strength, muscle tone and sensation on the affected side, then sitting balance, standing balance and how much help is needed to move from bed to chair. Swallowing and speech concerns are noted. How much help personal care currently takes is recorded too, because that is the honest measure of independence. Goals are then set with the family.

Relearning Tasks, Step by Step

Recovery after a stroke rests on repeated, meaningful practice, which is why a task is broken into parts. Standing up becomes feet back, lean forward, push through both legs. Dressing becomes the affected arm into the sleeve first. Each part is practised until it holds, then joined back together. The family is shown how to continue it daily.

Who It Helps

Difficulties We Work On After Stroke

Every stroke affects a different part of the brain, so the programme follows the assessment rather than a standard list.

Weak Arm and Hand

Reaching, gripping and releasing practised with real objects, not just exercises.

Sitting and Standing Balance

Weight shifting, reaching outside the base, and holding a position without support.

Walking Pattern

Stepping, turning and corridor practice, with an aid only while it is needed.

Transfers

Bed to chair, chair to commode and car transfers, practised with the family watching.

Painful Weak Shoulder

Positioning, supported handling and advice on never pulling the affected arm, to reduce shoulder pain.

Speech and Swallowing

Where talking, understanding or swallowing is affected, a speech therapist joins the plan.

Our Approach

Stroke recovery is long, uneven and hard to measure by feel. We write down what your loved one can do at the start of each month, practise in the rooms they actually use, and show the family how to carry the same practice through the week.

How It Works

  1. Detailed assessment — tone, strength, sensation, sitting and standing balance, transfers and how much help daily tasks need.
  2. Goals with the family — practical targets such as sitting unsupported, walking to the bathroom or eating without help.
  3. Task practice — hands-on facilitation plus repeated practice of the real task, broken into small steps.
  4. Carer training — safe transfers, bed and chair positioning, and how to protect the weak shoulder.

Review — goals are re-measured as abilities change, and speech or occupational therapy is added when the assessment calls for it.

Why Practice Happens at Home

A skill learned in a gym does not always travel. Standing up from your own sofa, turning in your own corridor and reaching your own bathroom tap is the practice that changes a day at home.

Helping a Stroke Patient Move Again at Home

Small gains, recorded honestly

Families looking for stroke rehabilitation in Lahore often ask whether their relative will walk again. Nobody can answer that at the first visit, and we will not pretend otherwise. What we can do is measure where things stand now, work on the affected side, balance and transfers several times a week, protect the shoulder and the skin, and tell you plainly each month what has changed and what has not.
Our therapists reach DHA, Gulberg, Johar Town, Model Town, Bahria Town, Cantt and other areas of Lahore. Where swallowing or speech is affected, add speech therapy; for washing, dressing and the bathroom, see occupational therapy.

FAQs

Stroke Rehabilitation FAQs

Common questions about stroke rehabilitation at home in Lahore.

When should rehabilitation start after a stroke?

As soon as the treating doctor agrees after discharge, because the first months are usually when structured practice does most. That said, people months and even years after a stroke still gain from it, so it is rarely too late to begin.
In the early months most families book three to five sessions a week, each around an hour, because repeated practice matters more than one long visit. The frequency comes down as your loved one steadies and the family carries more of the daily practice.
We cannot promise that, and we will not pretend to. It depends on which part of the brain was affected, how much movement has already returned, and your relative’s age and general health. What we can do is measure where things stand now, work on the affected side, balance and transfers, and report honestly each month.
Space beside the bed, a firm armchair with arms, and the hospital discharge summary with any CT or MRI report. A commode chair, a bed rail or a walking frame may be suggested after the assessment, but nothing is recommended until the therapist has seen what your loved one can actually do.
Yes. Where talking, understanding or swallowing is affected, a speech therapist joins and visits on separate days; where washing, dressing and the bathroom are the problem, an occupational therapist does the same. All of them work from one shared plan rather than three.
Yes. Stroke work involves close physical support and help with dressing and transfers, so many families prefer a therapist of the same gender. Tell us your preference when you book. A family member should ideally be present anyway, because much of the training is for them.
Charges depend on how many sessions a week are agreed and whether speech or occupational therapy is added. Because stroke rehabilitation usually runs for months, your coordinator sets out the weekly cost plainly at the start, and plans can be reduced or paused.
A drooping face, sudden weakness in an arm, slurred speech or a severe headache can mean another stroke and need 1122 immediately. A fever, a new pressure sore or sudden breathlessness needs the doctor the same day. The therapist goes through these with your family at the first visit.
