A trained caregiver follows a set daily routine: a morning bed bath and mouth care, fresh clothes and linen, meals and fluids given with the patient sitting upright, and repositioning at regular intervals day and night. A supervising nurse checks pressure points, reviews the turning and fluid charts, and advises on equipment such as an air mattress, hospital bed or commode.

Services Include

Goal

To keep a bed-bound patient clean, comfortable and as free as possible from complications such as bedsores, while protecting their dignity and easing the load on family.

Who Needs Bedridden Patient Care at Home?

Bedridden care is for a patient who cannot get out of bed without help, or at all. That usually means someone after a severe stroke, a hip fracture, a spinal injury or advanced cancer, heart or kidney disease, or an elderly parent who has become too weak to stand. Families often call when turning and lifting have become unsafe, or when a red patch has appeared on the lower back.

What a Carer Does Daily

Each shift begins with a look at the skin, breathing and comfort. The carer gives a bed bath and mouth care, changes clothes and linen without getting the patient up, raises the head of the bed for meals and fluids, and turns the patient at agreed intervals, writing down each change of position. Limbs are moved gently to ease stiffness.

Why the Turning Schedule Matters

Skin over the heels, hips, lower back and shoulder blades loses its blood supply when weight sits on it for hours, and damage can begin in a single afternoon. Turning on schedule, keeping the skin clean and dry, and lifting rather than dragging the patient up the bed are what prevent it. A nurse inspects every pressure point and reports what changes.

Hip & Spine Fractures

Careful positioning and aided transfers while a fracture or surgical repair knits.

Advanced Cancer Care

Comfort, mouth care and gentle handling, following the doctor's written plan.

Very Frail Elderly Parents

An older parent who can no longer stand safely and needs help with every part of the day.

Wounds Already Started

Skin that has already broken down, with dressings by a nurse and strict pressure relief.

Our Approach

Bedridden care succeeds or fails on routine. The turning times, the feeding position, the diaper changes and the skin checks have to happen whether or not anyone is watching, so we write them down and a senior nurse audits the chart.

How We Set It Up

  1. Home assessment — a nurse checks skin, mobility, continence and feeding, and looks at the bed and room.
  2. Equipment advice — whether an air mattress, hospital bed, commode or draw sheet would make care safer.
  3. Turning and feeding plan — intervals, positions and upright feeding times agreed with your family.
  4. Carer matched — on lifting ability, language and whether you want a male or female carer.

Skin review — the nurse inspects pressure points and the charts, and tells your doctor if a sore is forming.

The Part Families Dread

Most relatives manage for a while. What wears them down is the lifting, the night turns and the fear of getting it wrong. Handing that work to trained hands is not giving up on your patient.

Bedridden Care for Elderly and Paralysed Patients

Keeping skin intact and spirits up

Looking for someone to care for a bedridden parent in Lahore? The work is unglamorous and relentless: turning, washing, changing, feeding, then starting again. A trained carer takes it on without rushing the patient, talks to them while they work, keeps the room aired and the bedding fresh, and notices the small changes that matter: less urine, a new cough, or skin that stays red after turning.
Our carers work in homes across Johar Town, DHA, Gulberg, Model Town and Bahria Town. Where a bedridden patient also needs injections, a catheter or tube feeding, a 24-hour home nurse is arranged, and paralysis rehabilitation can begin once the doctor agrees.

FAQs

Bedridden Patient Care FAQs

Questions families ask before booking care for a bed-bound patient.

Does a bedridden patient need cover at night too?

Turning does not stop at night, so most bedridden patients need cover round the clock: two twelve-hour shifts, usually 8am to 8pm and 8pm to 8am, with the carer going off duty handing over at the bedside. Families who can manage the nights themselves often book a day shift only.
For the shifts it is one carer at a time, with a second pair of hands where the patient is heavy or has a fracture. If you want continuous cover it is two carers, one per shift, because nobody stays alert for twenty-four hours. A nurse visits on top of the carer’s shifts for clinical tasks.
Diapers, wipes, barrier cream, clean linen and the prescribed medicines and dressings. Tell us what you already have, such as a hospital bed, air mattress, commode or suction machine, and the nurse will say at the assessment what else would make care safer. A draw sheet helps more than most things.
Often, depending on which carers are free in your area. Call or WhatsApp with the diagnosis, how long the patient has been in bed and whether a sore has already started, and the coordinator will tell you straight away whether tonight or tomorrow morning is realistic.
Yes. Tell us at booking which you would prefer. Families usually ask for a female carer where a female patient is bathed and changed, and a male carer where lifting is heavy. Both requests are normal, and we match where someone is available.
Charges depend on the shift pattern, how long the care will run, and whether the work needs a caregiver or a qualified nurse. A patient with an existing bedsore, a catheter or tube feeding needs nursing hours as well. Your coordinator gives you the rate before anyone starts.
Call the coordinator rather than the carer. A relief carer is briefed from the turning chart and the care plan before the shift, so the schedule the patient’s skin depends on is not interrupted.
Yes. Where a bedridden patient is on a tracheostomy, oxygen, suction or close monitoring, we place an ICU-trained nurse instead of a caregiver. They are in shorter supply, so give as much notice as you can and send the discharge summary.
