Post-Surgery Physiotherapy
Before the first session, we ask for the discharge summary and any surgeon’s restrictions, such as weight-bearing limits or hip precautions. The physiotherapist checks the operated area, swelling and pain, then sets stage-by-stage goals, from sitting up and standing to walking with a frame, then a stick and, where possible, unaided. Progress is reported to the family and, on request, to the surgeon.
To help your loved one recover movement, strength and independence safely after surgery, following the surgeon’s plan and avoiding strain on the healing area.
Who It Suits
Bending and straightening the new knee, then walking and stairs as allowed.
Hip precautions respected while strength, standing and walking are rebuilt.
Safe log-rolling, posture, and core work once the surgeon permits it.
Graded range and strength work after ACL repair or knee arthroscopy.
Breathing exercises, sternal precautions and a careful return to walking after bypass.
Early mobilisation, chest clearance and support for the wound while standing and coughing.
Reporting — progress notes go to your family and, on request, to the surgeon before the follow-up appointment.
Tell us who needs care and we’ll call you back to confirm the visit, the timing and what the patient needs.
