Stroke Rehabilitation
The first visit assesses strength, tone, sensation, balance, swallowing concerns and how much help your loved one needs with daily tasks. Together with the family, the therapist sets practical goals, such as sitting unsupported, walking to the bathroom or eating without help. Sessions combine hands-on facilitation, task practice and positioning advice, and the plan is reviewed as abilities change.
To help your loved one regain as much movement, balance and independence as possible after a stroke, while supporting the family to care safely at home.
Who It Helps
Reaching, gripping and releasing practised with real objects, not just exercises.
Weight shifting, reaching outside the base, and holding a position without support.
Stepping, turning and corridor practice, with an aid only while it is needed.
Bed to chair, chair to commode and car transfers, practised with the family watching.
Positioning, supported handling and advice on never pulling the affected arm, to reduce shoulder pain.
Where talking, understanding or swallowing is affected, a speech therapist joins the plan.
Review — goals are re-measured as abilities change, and speech or occupational therapy is added when the assessment calls for it.
